2645 is a hotbed of bike lane violation activity. Unfortunately, this bike lane needs repair and more pavement markings in order to better delineate that this is not for cars. There are two No Parking - Tow Zone signs just before this spot. WTF.

I am pretty sure that the people parking there are bridge tenders. I'm not saying that that is a valid excuse, but I'm guessing that they don't get ticketed because they work for the City? The metal grate bridges in general are pretty scary - a really bad place to merge in and out of car/truck traffic.

@antek: Agreed, these cars belong to bridge tenders and maybe a local police staffer. One of the cars that parks here has a placard that says he is police personnel out of a specific district and this is his parking pass. No rights or responsibilities are described on the placard, so I guess he could park in my lawn if he felt like it.

what bothers me about the police not ticketing other (off duty) police and city employees is that this gives civilians the impression that the law is not being enforced in a fair or consistent manner. and when it comes to allowing cars to park in bike lanes unpunished, it appears that the police are promoting or condoning unsafe driving/parking.
if law enforcement wants to win the trust of citizens, they really must follow their own rules. i am sick of those stupid laminated fake "official business" placards and fraternal order of police stickers.
